National Transfer Student Week—every third week in October—celebrates transfer students and the professionals who support them on their journeys. Join us in recognizing those who have made this journey! #TransferStudentWeek.

Here we meet Pruthvi Talvekar, a junior majoring in Biological Sciences with a minor in Business Administration. Talvekar transferred from Middlesex County College right when COVID hit in the Spring of 2020. He shares his perception of this transition:

“Rutgers is a diverse school with people from all the backgrounds across the globe. Since my transfer it has been very easy to communicate and talk to everyone. SEBS is a home for students who have a keen interest in their subject. Advising is very transparent and you can chat with the dean and assistant dean directly with the help of zoom rooms in specific time lots. A special thanks to Dr. Joseph Ventola as well as Dr. Anne Carr-Schmid who have been very helpful in this transition to a four-year university despite a tight online schedule.

Every person at Rutgers has a story which is inspiring and drives you to go and study on campus despite the challenges. In my first semester I was inspired by the story of Drs. Michael and Suzanne Sukhdeo while taking Evolutionary Animal Behavior with them – the duo is unstoppable. The university has taken great care in this period of COVID and transitioned students and activities back on campus which brings college life at its best. I am very grateful to be a part of this community and look forward to the coming years at New Brunswick campus. Forever Scarlet.”
